Stempenyu is a gifted musician who leads a band of klezmers that perform at weddings. People come from all over Poland and Russia to hear him and his band. Apart from being an admired and gifted musician, Stemprniu is also a renowned heartbreaker, and many women are caught in his net.
One day, Stempenyu falls in love with the beautiful, but alas married, Rochale, Matters become complicated when Rochale falls in love with him two, while Stempenyu’s wife has no intention of letting him go.
Edna Mazya’s adaptation weaves a beautiful and heartrending play with an abundance of colorful characters, all seeking to fulfill themselves through Stempenyu and his music. It is a modern and captivating adaptation of the classic novel by Shalom Aleichem, one of the greatest Jewish writers of all time.
